Manitoba Parks and Natural Areas Branch

Function Four was part of a partnership with other Manitoba firms that delivered the full Parks Reservation System (PRS) solution for the Parks and Natural Areas Branch of Manitoba Conservation.

PRS Queue

In 2007 Function Four developed a Queue web application that helps to manage the incredible influx of reserving clients on opening day. Thousands arrive in the first minutes of reservation availability and are held in the Queue. This traffic management tool enables Parks staff to manage arriving clients and ensure fair treatment with available resources. Function Four team members continue to work with Conservation and other technology partners, supporting configuration that morning, providing extensive analysis for debriefing, and advising on potential enhancements or process improvements.

PRS Map Application

During the initial development in 2006 we contributed a web-based GIS application that allows Parks staff to manage inventory coordinates and generate the maps that are used in the PRS. We continue to host and support the GIS application, which was enhanced based on a business process analysis conducted by our team and approved by Parks.

PRS Training Strategy and Materials

During the inaugural project we also developed the Parks Reservation System training sessions for call centre staff, campground attendants, and head office employees, writing all the materials and guiding Parks staff to conduct future sessions.
